SYDNEY, 20 October 2017 / — National Media announced today the acquisition of Accountants’ Technology Showcase Australia (ATSA) from Smithink.
The annual event, founded by David Smith in 2007 has a rich and successful history in advocating education and knowledge sharing within the accountancy profession, establishing itself as the premier accounting technology conference in Australia. The two-day conference, which wrapped up its 11th edition in Sydney this week attracted 700 delegates and 60 technology vendors from across Australia and New Zealand.
ATSA joins National Media’s portfolio of events, including Accounting Business Expo – Australia’s biggest annual exhibition and learning event for the accountancy, bookkeeping and financial management community.
“Australia is recognised globally as leader in accounting and finance technology innovation so we see huge potential in adding ATSA to our portfolio.” Said Laura Venables, event director at National Media. “David Smith and Mark Holton have done an exceptional job in both pioneering and developing a highly focused forum that connects accountants with many of the industry’s latest and greatest technology solutions and educators. We’re thrilled to be welcoming ATSA to our portfolio.”
“With so much change happening in this sector, National Media has the capacity to accelerate the growth and evolution of ATSA by providing the investment, resources and experience needed for its development. Accounting Business Expo created an entirely new scale and standard of event for the accounting profession and we’re really excited at where we can take ATSA” said Ms Venables.
“It certainly has been satisfying to see ATSA grow from an idea into a major industry event. Now is the right time to take technology events for the industry to a new level. I have no doubts Laura and her team will be great new hosts of ATSA and are best placed to take the event to new heights. We will remain connected with National Media to ensure a smooth transition.” Said David Smith, founder and director of Smithink.
Managing director of National Media, Mark Harvey said the acquisition strengthens their business management portfolio and aligns perfectly with their mission of helping business owners and entrepreneurs compete, grow and prosper in a highly connected world.
“Technology is changing the way business gets done across almost all industries, and accounting and finance are not immune to this.” Said Harvey. “More and more software solutions are being developed for this market, aimed at supporting a broad range of small business needs, from getting paid faster, improving cash flow, accessing capital, tracking performance or working more productively. The reality is cloud-based technology is having a huge impact not only on how accountants and bookkeepers manage their practice today, but it’s also revolutionising the way that SMBs do business.
“Our events are designed to connect people and businesses with the right expertise and products, and to arm them with the knowledge to make smarter technology decisions. Acquiring ATSA gives us an extended platform to expand on this and provide more accountants and bookkeepers with the insights they need to thrive and profit in a constantly changing business landscape.” Said Harvey.
“Over the coming months we’ll be working on some exciting new developments that will evolve ATSA into a fresh new event. The whole team is looking forward to working with the ATSA community and continuing to build on the many great relationships we’ve already established via Accounting Business Expo. We have a strong ‘audience first’ ethos and welcome any thoughts or feedback.” Said Ms Venables.
